Job summary

Ventia is seeking a Fire Capability Manager to oversee two sites in Victoria, delivering firefighting, rescue and emergency response services under Defence.You will lead personnel, equipment planning, and stakeholder engagement to ensure safe, compliant, and effective service delivery.

Desirable candidates have emergency management experience, business management qualifications, and demonstrated leadership in dispersed multi-agency operations; hybrid working and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

• Emergency management experience in a dynamic, high-risk environment (desirable).
• Graduate or post-graduate qualification in Business Management.
• Experience in complex service delivery across dispersed multi-agency operations.
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritise by risk.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with workforce planning, recruitment and leadership development.
• Eligible for Defence Security Clearance; Australian citizen.

Responsibilities

• Ensure station teams maintain high operational preparedness for immediate response to emergencies.
• Oversee resource allocation including personnel, fleet, equipment, and training to meet objectives.
• Foster an inclusive, engaged workforce and drive service excellence.
• Build relations with Defence personnel, SEG Leadership and base community.
• Lead safety and health initiatives and promote compliance culture.
• Contribute to redefining service excellence and emergency response delivery.
