Job summary

Australian Department of Defence – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an APS 6 Contracting Officer to support procurement, contracting and contract management within the Offshore Patrol and Specialist Ships (OPSS) Branch. You will provide commercial advice, maintain governance frameworks and monitor contractual obligations.

The role offers complex, impactful work with high-value agreements and opportunities to mentor others, with BDCP remuneration and added superannuation benefits as part of Defence

Qualifications

Experience managing complex contracts and high-value agreements.
Strong understanding of procurement and commercial governance.
Ability to provide strategic commercial advice to senior executives.
Ability to analyse complex issues and manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

Provide commercial advice and support to contract managers and stakeholders.
Maintain commercial governance frameworks and policies.
Monitor contractual obligations and performance.
Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Undertake procurement activities following CPRs and policies.
Support development of commercial capability within OPSS through mentoring.
