Job summary

Downer invites applications to join HMAS Albatross, Nowra Hill as a Water Treatment Operator. This permanent role supports Defence infrastructure and involves operating small water treatment plants within a base, ensuring safe water quality and regulatory compliance.

You'll monitor water quality, perform routine testing and basic maintenance, adjust chemical dosing under supervision, and report issues to the Leading Hand.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Water Industry Operations is required.
• Experience in water treatment plant operations or related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory).
• Current Open Driver's Licence.
• NSW Water Operator Certification required or working towards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of small water treatment plants located within a single Defence base.
• Plant operation, monitoring and reporting of water quality, basic maintenance.
• Conduct routine inspections, sampling and testing of water quality.
• Adjust chemical dosing and treatment processes under supervision.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
• Report equipment faults or failures to the Leading Hand.
