Job summary

The Lakes Hyundai Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Dealership Accountant to join our North Lakes dealership. You will support financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance and internal controls alongside the Financial Controller and management team.

This full-time, permanent position offers a salary of $80,000–$90,000 per annum plus superannuation. Opportunities for professional development and career growth are available within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline.
• Relevant professional accounting experience.
• Experience in an automotive dealership, retail or similar commercial accounting environment is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in month-end accounting and Trial Balance preparation.
• Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Titan DMS or another dealership management system is highly regarded.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• CPA/CA qualification or progress towards a professional accounting qualification is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Support the Financial Controller in day-to-day financial management and accounting operations.
• Manage and perform accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Process daily banking transactions, customer refunds and pay-outs.
• Complete month-end accounting processes through to Trial Balance and meet reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and maintain bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with analysis of financial and management reports.
• Review financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Conduct reconciliations and assist with internal financial audits.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Monitor financial performance and identify discrepancies.
• Assist in compliance with accounting standards and financial controls.
• Identify improvements to accounting systems and processes.
• Collaborate with Financial Controller and management on dealership finance needs.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and management team, the successful applicant will support the dealership’s financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance and internal controls.

Task & responsibilities

• Supporting the Financial Controller in the day-to-day financial management and accounting operations of the dealerships;
• Managing and performing accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable;
• Processing daily banking transactions, customer refunds and pay-outs;

• Assisting in ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial controls and regulatory requirements;
• Identifying and assisting with improvements to accounting systems, controls and financial processes;
• Working closely with the Financial Controller and management team regarding the financial performance and accounting requirements of the dealerships.

Qualification & experience

To be successful in this position, applicants should have:
