Job summary

Leidos Australia seeks a Data Warehouse Architect to shape the enterprise data landscape within the Civil Digital Modernisation team in Australia. You will design and govern data platforms that scale securely to support reporting, BI, and operational insights, working with stakeholders and engineers.

  • Significant experience in data warehousing and data engineering within complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional data models including star schemas.
  • Advanced SQL capabilities and working with relational databases and large-scale data environments.
  • Experience designing and overseeing ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Informatica, dbt, SSIS, or similar.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, MS Fabric, Redshift, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, lineage, security, privacy, and data quality frameworks.
  • Ability to optimise data platform performance, scalability, storage, and workload management.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders across business and technology teams and providing architectural guidance.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Lead the design and evolution of enterprise data warehouse, lakehouse, and analytics architectures across cloud, on-premises, and SaaS environments.
  • Define and implement data models, architecture standards, integration patterns, and governance frameworks for data quality and accessibility.
  • Provide technical leadership across ETL/ELT development, data integration, platform modernisation, and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performing data solutions for reporting and analytics.

The Opportunity

As a Data Warehouse Architect, you will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s enterprise data landscape, enabling trusted insights and data-driven decision-making across the business. Working with business stakeholders, data professionals, and technology teams, you will design and govern modern data platforms that are scalable, secure, and aligned to strategic objectives.

  • Lead the design and evolution of enterprise data warehouse, lakehouse, and analytics architectures across cloud, on-premises, and SaaS environments, ensuring solutions support current and future business needs.

  • Define and implement data models, architecture standards, integration patterns, and governance frameworks that improve data quality, consistency, accessibility, and usability across the organisation.

  • Provide technical leadership across ETL/ELT development, data integration, platform modernisation, and cloud transformation initiatives, guiding teams through complex architectural and delivery challenges.

  • Partner with engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver high-performing, secure, and maintainable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, business intelligence, and operational decision-making.

About You

You are an experienced data professional who combines strategic thinking with hands‑on technical expertise. You enjoy translating business requirements into practical data solutions and are passionate about building data platforms that are reliable, scalable, and trusted by stakeholders across the organisation.

Essential
  • Significant experience in data warehousing, data architecture, database design, or data engineering within complex enterprise environments.

  • Experience designing conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional data models, including star schemas, fact tables, and dimension tables.

  • Advanced SQL capability and experience working with relational database technologies and large-scale data environments.

  • Experience designing and overseeing ETL/ELT pipelines using technologies such as Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Informatica, dbt, SSIS, or similar platforms.

  • Knowledge of modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Azure Synapse.

  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, lineage, security, privacy, and data quality frameworks.

  • Ability to optimise data platform performance, scalability, storage, and workload management while maintaining operational reliability.

  • Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders across business and technology teams and providing technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance.

  • Well‑developed communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a range of audiences.

Advantageous
  • Experience with cloud‑native data architectures, data lakes, lakehouses, and modern analytics platforms.

  • Knowledge of Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark, Kafka, or other modern data processing and streaming technologies.

  • Experience with dbt and contemporary data transformation practices.

  • Familiarity with Data Vault, Kimball, data mesh, or other enterprise data modelling and architecture approaches.

  • Experience implementing CI/CD practices and Infrastructure as Code within data platforms.

  • Exposure to data cataloguing, governance, or metadata management tools.

  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in cloud architecture, data engineering, database technologies, or enterprise architecture.

This role requires the successful applicant to be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
