Job summary

7Learnings is seeking an autonomous Freelance Data Scientist based in Sydney to own ML-driven retail optimization for our Asia-Pacific clients, approximately 10 hours per week, working remotely from Sydney with the Berlin engineering team.

You will apply ML models to forecast sales, optimize data pipelines, and translate business challenges into scalable software. Requires 3+ years DS experience, Python/Git, TensorFlow, SQL/BigQuery, and professional English (C1).

Data Scientist - Remote Freelance Sydney (m/f/d) - Sydney Team

We are looking for an autonomous Freelance Data Scientistbased in Sydney to work approximately10 hours per week, owning the intersection of sophisticated predictive decision-making and world-class engineering for our local operations. In this role, you won't just run standard scripts; you will be the custodian of our product's localized evolution, ensuring our AI-driven decision engines are mathematically sound, highly optimized, and engineering-resilient. You will be working remotely from Sydney, supporting our clients in the region.
Working closely with our core engineering team in Berlin, you will translate complex, real-world retail challenges into scalable, high-performance software solutions directly impacting our clients on the ground. As our dedicated data science resource in Sydney, you are the engine of 7Learnings’ regional presence. Our product relies on the perfect harmony between complex algorithms and stable software; you will be responsible for ensuring that our technical execution remains flawless, technical debt remains low, and model accuracy remains exceptionally high, all within a focused commitment of approximately 10 hours per week.

About you

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.

Min. 3 year experience as DS and independent work with customers.

A results-oriented, pragmatic mindset.

Hands-on experience in machine learning and data science.

Prior experience with Git, TensorFlow, Google Cloud Platform, SQL, or BigQuery.

Strong project management skills, with prior experience or a strong interest in e-commerce and the fashion industry.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a proven track record of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

English: Professional working proficiency (minimum C1 level).
