Job summary

Talent Corp invites applications for a Data Science & AI Engineering Manager in Melbourne. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of around 20 engineers and scientists, delivering enterprise-scale AI/ML and data solutions that drive measurable business value.

Responsibilities include setting engineering standards, guiding DevOps and CI/CD practices, mentoring leaders, partnering with product and executives, and shaping the organisation's AI roadmap in a large retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large multidisciplinary technical teams (15–20+ people).
• Strong background across AI/ML, data science, data engineering and software engineering.
• Experience delivering AI/data solutions into production in enterprise environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers and QA specialists.
• Own successful delivery of AI, ML and data solutions across scope, budget, quality and timelines.
• Provide technical leadership for scalable, production-ready AI/ML and data platforms.
• Partner with Product Managers and business stakeholders to translate problems into Data & AI solutions.
• Establish and uplift engineering standards across software, data, and ML development.
• Drive DevOps, CI/CD, automation, testing and QA practices to improve delivery speed and reliability.
• Ensure production AI and data solutions are secure, well-governed and meet SLAs.
• Foster an engineering culture focused on experimentation and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and develop team members, shaping career pathways and future leaders.
• Stay across emerging AI and data technologies and influence the tech roadmap.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Data Science & AI Engineering Manager to join a large, well-known retail organisation and lead a multidisciplinary team delivering enterprise-scale Data and AI solutions. Leading a team of approximately 20 people, you'll bring strong technical leadership across AI/ML, Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering and DevOps, while ensuring solutions deliver measurable business value.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

• Proven experience leading a large, multidisciplinary technical team, ideally 15-20+ people.
• Strong technical background spanning AI/ML, Data Science, Data Engineering and Software Engineering.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
• Experience delivering complex AI and data solutions into production within a large enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated ability to balance technical leadership, people leadership and delivery management.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across Product, Technology and senior business stakeholders.
• Experience building high-performing teams and developing engineering capability.
• Retail or similarly large-scale, data-rich enterprise experience would be highly regarded.
