Job summary

carsales is seeking a Technical Lead for Data Platform Engineering to drive architectural direction across multiple domains and partner with product and technology teams. This role is an individual contributor with mentoring responsibilities, not a people manager.

You will shape strategy, set standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, security, and governance while overseeing data democratisation and platform modernisation efforts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning significant data platform domains end-to-end.
• Deep cross-cutting expertise across the data stack and cloud.
• Ability to mentor engineers and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural direction across the data platform engineering scope.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape strategy.
• Set engineering standards: coding quality, testing, CI/CD, security, governance.
• Oversee major initiatives like data democratisation and platform modernisation.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers on complex problems.
• Represent DPE in cross-functional forums and align with analytics teams.
• Identify new tools and AI opportunities and recommend adoption.
