Job summary

Peoplebank is seeking an experienced Data Modeller for a Brisbane-based, 12-month contract to help shape trusted, business-ready data products within a modern Databricks Lakehouse environment. You will translate business requirements into logical data models, collaborate with stakeholders and data engineers to ensure governance and quality across datasets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Data Modelling, Data Warehousing, Analytics Engineering or similar roles.
• Proven experience translating business requirements into logical data models and analytical datasets.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and modern data modelling techniques.
• Experience analysing complex source systems and data structures.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation and communication skills.
• Experience documenting business definitions, data mappings and metadata.
• Understanding of data governance, data quality and authoritative source concepts.
• Experience working in agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Business Analysts, Architects, Data Owners and Data Engineers to understand business requirements and analytical use cases.
• Design and maintain logical data models and business-focused datasets.
• Facilitate workshops to define business concepts, entities, attributes and measures.
• Identify authoritative data sources and establish agreed business definitions.
• Analyse source systems and existing Lakehouse data assets to understand relationships and business meaning.
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries and metadata assets.
• Validate and refine datasets through iterative prototyping and stakeholder engagement.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise data governance, architecture and security standards.
• Partner closely with Data Engineers to support implementation of agreed designs within the Lakehouse environment.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Data Modeller who enjoys working closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to define, validate, and design logical datasets that drive reporting, analytics, and data-led decision-making.

The Opportunity

Our client's Enterprise Data Group has established a modern Lakehouse platform and continues to expand its enterprise analytics capabilities. As a Data Modeller, you will play a critical role in translating business requirements into logical data structures that support reporting and analytical outcomes across multiple business domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Business Analysts, Architects, Data Owners and Data Engineers to understand business requirements and analytical use cases.

About You

You are a modern, pragmatic Data Modeller who thrives in agile delivery environments and can balance modelling rigour with delivery speed. You are comfortable moving from business requirements to implementation-ready designs while building strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

Essential:

• 5+ years' experience in Data Modelling, Data Warehousing, Analytics Engineering or similar roles.
• Proven experience translating business requirements into logical data models and analytical datasets.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and modern data modelling techniques.
• Experience analysing complex source systems and data structures.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation and communication skills.

Highly Desirable:

• Experience with Databricks and modern Lakehouse architectures.

• Background within Energy, Utilities or similar asset-intensive environments.
• Exposure to cloud-based analytics platforms and data product development.
