Position purpose

Sydney Glass has been proudly supplying glass across Sydney since 1958, and with more than 65 years in the industry, we are one of Sydney’s most established and trusted glass suppliers. From our Bankstown site, we cut, toughen and process glass in-house for everything from shower screens, mirrors and splashbacks to large commercial fitouts. We work with a wide range of customers, including homeowners, builders, glaziers, shopfitters and commercial clients, and we believe no job is too small.

As our Data Entry and Sales Support Officer, you will play a central part in how our customers experience Sydney Glass. You will be the first friendly voice they hear, whether they call, email or walk through our door, and you will help turn their enquiries into finished jobs. You will prepare quotes and designs in Synergy, keep our records accurate and up to date, and support our sales team so everything runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and respond to customer enquiries in a warm, helpful and professional manner.
• Welcome and assist walk-in customers at the front counter.
• Collect the information needed from customers to prepare accurate quotes and process orders.
• Process customer payments via EFTPOS.

Quoting and sales follow-up

• Prepare quotes and design work using Synergy software.
• Follow up with customers on outstanding quotes and enquiries, helping them move forward with their projects.

Data entry and records

• Enter and maintain accurate customer, order and quote information in company systems.
• Complete general data entry tasks, making sure information is reliable and easy for the team to use.
• Provide general administration support to the sales team.
• Schedule customer pickups and keep customers informed.
• Assist with day-to-day sales administration so the team can operate efficiently.
• Other reasonable duties within the employee’s skills and competence, as directed.

Selection criteria

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar customer service, sales support or administration role.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software (for example Outlook, Word and Excel).
• Accurate data entry skills with strong attention to detail.
• Clear, friendly and confident communication, both on the phone and face to face.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and stay organised in a busy environment.
• Confidence using computer systems and a willingness to learn new software.
• Experience in the glazing or glass industry.
• Experience using Synergy software.
• Familiarity with Xero accounting software.
• Previous experience handling EFTPOS payments.
• A relevant qualification in business administration, glazing or a related trade.
