Job summary

Salt Digital Recruitment is seeking a Data Engineer for a 6‑month contract in Melbourne, working in a hybrid setup. The role focuses on designing, building and optimising modern data platforms to support critical analytics and operations within secure environments.

You will handle large‑scale data, cloud technologies and governance, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver practical data solutions and ensure data quality across systems. NV1 clearance is required for this project.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and supporting enterprise data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Experience in PSPF, DISP and/or IRAP accredited environments.
• Strong data integration including mapping, transformation and orchestration.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure or AWS).
• Solid understanding of data modelling, governance and lifecycle management.
• Excellent communication with technical and business stakeholders.

We’re partnering with a leading organisation delivering critical technology initiatives and are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to design, build and optimise modern data platforms that support business‑critical analytics and operations. What you’ll be doing:

• Produce clear documentation for data pipelines, architectures and data flows.

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience building and supporting enterprise data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Experience working within PSPF, DISP and/or IRAP accredited environments.
• Strong data integration experience including mapping, transformation and orchestration.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• A solid understanding of data modelling, governance and lifecycle management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Experience within Telecommunications or Government environments will be highly regarded.
• Current NV1 Security Clearance is essential.
