Amazon Web Services (AWS), through Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd, is seeking a Datacentre Operations Cluster Manager to lead data centre operations teams across multiple shifts and support the reliable operation of AWS infrastructure. This is a senior leadership role responsible for safety, quality, performance and budgets.

You will mentor managers, oversee development, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with vendors and maintaining high service levels across the cluster.

About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS), through Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd, is seeking a Datacentre Operations Cluster Manager to lead data centre operations teams across multiple shifts and support the reliable operation of AWS infrastructure.

This is a senior operational leadership role with responsibility for managers and employees across data centre operations, including safety, quality, performance, customer experience, budgets, workforce development and major incident response.

You will lead continuous improvement across the cluster, oversee operational standards and procedures, coordinate with third-party vendors, and help ensure AWS data centre operations remain safe, secure, efficient and aligned with business objectives.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Security Clearance. Applicants must also be able to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Data Centre Operations managers and employees across multiple data centres and shifts.
• Take overall responsibility for safety, quality, performance and customer experience.
• Drive achievement of operational goals and business objectives.
• Lead strategic planning, forecasting and operational performance management.
• Mentor, train and develop managers, peers and direct reports.
• Oversee technical, functional and professional development across the team.
• Conduct performance reviews and support workforce planning and staffing decisions.
• Develop, improve and share operational best practices across the cluster.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and ensure adherence to contracted service levels.
• Manage operations budgets and expenditure.
• Lead the response to major operational incidents.
• Produce, review and maintain data centre operations policies and procedures.
• Support innovation and continuous improvement across regional data centre operations.
• Deputise for the Cluster Leader when required.

Basic qualifications

• Valid and active driver’s licence.
• 10+ years of people leadership experience.
• Experience delivering complex projects with prior ownership of a mission-critical team and/or product.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working to relevant health and safety standards and regulations.
• Project management experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a data centre or other critical environment.
