Job summary

Paxus is seeking a Data Centre Field Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery and modernisation of critical ICT and data centre infrastructure in Sydney. The role focuses on planning, installing, maintaining and improving secure, reliable environments across data centre facilities, networks, servers, power, rack allocation and cabling standards.

You will collaborate with project managers and business stakeholders to coordinate technical changes and troubleshoot complex issues.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering data centre infrastructure projects.
• Ability to coordinate with project managers and stakeholders.
• Strong incident response and root-cause analysis skills.
• Must hold AGSVA NV1 security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical advice and guidance to project teams, business representatives.
• Identifying and implementing service improvements that enhance reliability, security, supportability, operational efficiency and user experience.
• Ensuring all projects are delivered in line with the Department's timeframe.
• Working with Project Managers to define and schedule deliverables.
• Identifying risks, issues and opportunities for the business.
• Lead major incident responses and recovery activities.
• Coordinating and implementing infrastructure changes.

Location: Sydney, NSW
Contract: Until 30 June 2027
Extensions: Two 12-month extension options
Expected start: October 2026
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
Working arrangement: Initial onsite period, followed by potential hybrid work
Security clearance: Must hold AGSVA NV1 clearance

About the Role

A Federal Government organisation is seeking an experienced Data Centre Field Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery and modernisation of critical ICT and data centre infrastructure.

The role will focus on planning, installing, maintaining and improving secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure environments. You will work across data centre facilities, ICT rooms, networks, servers, power utilisation, rack allocation and cabling standards.

This opportunity would suit an infrastructure professional with strong hands‑on delivery experience who can coordinate technical changes, troubleshoot complex issues and work effectively with project managers and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing technical advice and guidance to project teams, business representatives;

• Maintaining project work flows as required;
• Leading and managing projects and technical activities;
• Providing strategic planning, mapping and modelling development;
• Coordinating and implementing infrastructure changes;
• Lead major incident responses and recovery activities;
• Troubleshooting of complex technical issues;
• Conducting and analysing root cause of critical incidents;
• Scheduling and managing tasks;
• Review and approve technical change activities.
