Job summary

Australian Securities Exchange in Sydney is seeking a dedicated Data Centre Operations professional to join the Technology Infrastructure team. You will manage day-to-day facility operations for ASX data centres, coordinate maintenance with vendors, and maintain capacity reporting to support reliable market services.

Working in a hybrid environment, you'll apply safety-first practices, maintain audit-ready records, and contribute to continuous improvement across facilities, ensuring readiness

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in critical data centre or critical facilities operations in a live 24x7 environment.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical and facility control systems (DRUPS/generators, HV/LV, chillers, BMS/SCADA/PME).
• Experience coordinating vendors through maintenance windows, change governance and risk controls.
• Strong operational discipline in customer-facing data centre services.
• Ability to maintain clear operational evidence, records and governance documentation.
• Knowledge of ITSM tooling such as ServiceNow.

Our Team

The Data Centre Infrastructure team forms part of Technology Infrastructure and is responsible for the operational integrity of ASX data centre environments, including ALC and the supporting secondary data centre capability. The team manages the physical facility controls, critical plant, environmental monitoring, site access, customer‑facing colocation support, maintenance coordination, capacity reporting and operational evidence needed to sustain ASX's market‑critical infrastructure.

Your responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day facility operations for ALC, including power, cooling, fire, leak detection, BMS, SCADA, PME, Traka/key management, environmental conditions and facility presentation.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor preventative and corrective maintenance with vendors, including change records, access arrangements, method statements, customer notifications, completion evidence and follow‑up actions.
• Maintain facility capacity oversight across rack space, power, cooling and customer allocations, supporting monthly reporting, trend analysis, PUE/environmental metrics, forecast risks and escalation of emerging constraints.
• Support live facility incidents and high‑risk changes by coordinating triage, technical updates, stakeholder communications, restoration activities, post‑incident actions and operational readiness checks.
• Maintain audit‑ready operational controls, including checklists, SOP/MOP/EOP documentation, asset and maintenance records, diagrams, access evidence, maintenance schedules, supplier records and customer reporting artefacts.
• Drive continuous improvement across facility operations, including monitoring enhancements, lifecycle renewal inputs, process standardisation, knowledge management, and reduction of operational risk or manual effort.
• Support the operational readiness and resilience of the ASX Secondary Data Centre, including coordination of facility checks, maintenance activity, access controls, environmental monitoring, evidence capture and disaster recovery support to ensure the site remains prepared to sustain critical market services when required.

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

• Demonstrated experience in critical data centre or critical facilities operations, preferably within a live 24x7 operational environment.
• Practical working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and facility control systems, including DRUPS/generators, HV/LV distribution, chillers, CRAC/FCU units, BMS/SCADA/PME, fire systems and leak detection.
• Experience coordinating vendors and contractors through controlled maintenance windows, change governance, site access, risk controls, completion reporting and issue follow‑up.
• Strong operational discipline in customer‑facing data centre services, including smart hands, rack/cage access, environmental reporting, equipment movements, facility housekeeping and service request management.
• Ability to produce and maintain clear operational evidence, procedures, asset/maintenance records, capacity data and control documentation suitable for internal governance, audit and service reporting.
• Working knowledge of ITSM practices and tooling such as ServiceNow for incident, request, change and maintenance coordination.

Nice to have

• Electrical, mechanical, facilities, engineering, data centre operations or equivalent vocational qualification/certification.
• Experience in colocation, financial markets, regulated critical infrastructure or environments designed to Tier III/concurrently maintainable resilience principles.
• Exposure to lifecycle/capital works in live environments, including plant replacement, monitoring upgrades, capacity expansion or customer migration activity.

How you will operate

• Apply a safety‑first and risk‑based approach to every facility activity, especially work involving power, cooling, fire systems, access controls or customer environments.
• Communicate clearly and early with customers, vendors, Data Centre Operations, Technology Infrastructure and service stakeholders before, during and after planned or unplanned facility activity.
• Use data from alarms, trends, reports, maintenance history and site checks to identify issues early, validate root cause and support defensible operational decisions.
• Keep procedures, evidence and handover material current so that facility operations remain repeatable, supportable and resilient across shifts and personnel changes.
