Job summary

Amazon is hiring for a Data Center Engineering Operations role in Melbourne (MEL DCEO). The team maintains and optimizes AWS data center facilities, focusing on safety, availability and cost efficiency.

You will work with diverse teams to ensure reliable infrastructure and coordinate with global data center regions. Ideal candidates have 4+ years in data center engineering or a related field, a technical degree, and knowledge of network design and low voltage cabling.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
• Ability to use hands to manipulate small wires and objects.
• Ability to walk on job sites in uneven terrain.
• Ability to work at heights and from ladders.

Responsibilities

• Undertake and support management of routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems (switch‑gear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC, monitoring, fire systems).
• Install new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling.
• On-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring work complies with practices and local legislation.
• Establish performance benchmarks, analyses and documentation of facility operations; manage assets.
• Generate change management and incident tickets for facility events; assist in resolution of issues.
• Collaborate with data center IT managers to coordinate day‑to‑day operations and capacity planning.
• Drive and implement projects to increase capacity, efficiency, sustainability and reliability.
