Copper SA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own MineDrive data pipelines and products, shaping operational planning and execution by unifying planning, scheduling and execution data across source systems.

You will work with Snowflake, dbt, Python and SQL, building auditable pipelines, defining data contracts and governance, and collaborating with product, operations and cloud teams to deliver reliable insights for planning and decisions.

• 5+ years as a Data Engineer with ownership of production data solutions.

• Own MineDrive data pipelines and products using Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow/Astronomer and Python.
• Define canonical operational models, data contracts, lineage, quality controls and ownership across source systems.
• Build incremental, replayable, auditable and reproducible data products for application, optimisation and AI services.
• Manage reconciliation, schema evolution, historisation, source‑system change and access governance pragmatically.
• Choose appropriate batch or event‑driven patterns based on latency, reliability and operational needs.
• Review designs and pull requests; optimise Snowflake performance, reliability and cost; and implement monitoring and error handling.
• Support incidents, drive corrective actions and contribute reusable capabilities to the CuInsights data platform.
• Work with operational and product stakeholders to ensure data models reflect real planning concepts, decisions and workflows.

Key responsibilities:

• Own MineDrive data pipelines and products using Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow/Astronomer and Python.

What you'll need to succeed

• 5+ years as a Data Engineer, including senior ownership of production data solutions.
• Strong hands‑on Snowflake, dbt, Python and SQL experience, with Apache Airflow, Astronomer or a comparable orchestration platform.
• Strong data modelling and contract design skills, including incremental, replayable, observable and auditable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with complex operational data, historisation, reconciliation, schema evolution, lineage and reproducible outputs.
• Experience establishing engineering standards using Git‑based workflows, automated testing, CI/CD, design reviews and pull‑request review.
• Ability to explain trade‑offs and collaborate across product, operations, application, AI, cloud, security and platform teams.
