Job summary

The Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a Data Analyst to uplift analytics capability within the Knowledge Management team. You will contribute to cross-functional initiatives and help shape data usage for decision making across the Bank.

You will drive data operations, lead end-to-end data analysis, and develop dashboards and analytical models that inform strategic and regulatory outcomes. A balance of hands-on analysis and coaching others is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data analysis within a complex environment (financial services or large corporates desirable).
• Proficiency in SQL and data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
• Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear insights for senior audiences.

About the business/role/team

This role sits within the Knowledge Management department at the Bank, a team responsible for delivering insights that support strategic, operational, and regulatory outcomes across the organisation.

As a Data Analyst, you will play a key role in uplifting analytics capability, contributing to cross‑functional initiatives, and shaping how data is used to drive decisions across the Bank.

About the roleKey responsibilities

• Drive key data operations, piplines and functions.
• Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of data analysis, from problem definition through to insights and recommendations.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and analytical models to support decision‑making.
• Ensure data quality, integrity and appropriate use of data in line with governance and risk standards.
• Provide coaching and guidance to junior analysts and contribute to analytics best practice across the team.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Great attention to detail
• Strong experience in data analysis within a complex environment (financial services or large corporates desirable), using programming languages (such as R, Python, SQL, Mathematica).
• Advanced skills in SQL and experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI) and/or analytics platforms.
• The ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, compelling insights for senior, non‑technical audiences.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset.
• A curiosity‑driven approach and a passion for using data to solve real‑world business problems.
