Job summary

Reserve Bank of Australia in Sydney seeks an experienced Lead Analyst to join a strategic Line 1 role, strengthening risk culture within the People & Culture function and progressively enhancing risk management practices.

You will embed within the People Department, influence across the organisation, support risk classes, build capability through the risk transformation program and collaborate with Compliance and Internal Audit to deliver integrated assurance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a Line 1 or Line 2 risk and compliance role, with People & Culture risk experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting learning and development of stakeholders in practical risk management.
  • Proven ability to strengthen risk culture and risk management practices.
  • Experience implementing risk and compliance frameworks and coaching others.
  • Understanding of enterprise-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong risk culture through awareness and ownership of risks and mitigating controls.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and controls to help departments meet objectives.
  • Develop robust internal controls and support testing of key controls.
  • Monitor and report on risk management effectiveness, escalating gaps to senior management.
  • Provide guidance on risk incidents, root cause analysis, and remediation planning.
  • Identify, log, and manage risks, controls, issues, and incidents within the RMS.
  • Contribute to risk transformation programs and privacy-related topics as required.
  • Share best practices to enhance consistency across the Risk Management function.
  • Collaborate with Line 2, Compliance, and Internal Audit for integrated assurance to governance bodies.
  • Support reporting and analytics to raise awareness of material risk exposures and run risk forums.

As a Lead Analyst, you will
  • Promote a strong risk culture by fostering awareness and encouraging leaders and team members to take proactive ownership of risks and mitigating controls.

  • Support the identification, assessment, and management of risks and controls to help departments achieve their business objectives effectively.

  • Assist in developing robust internal controls to mitigate material risk exposure and support control owners in ongoing testing of key controls.

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management practices, escalating gaps and concerns to senior management where appropriate.

  • Provide guidance on risk incidents, including assessment, root cause analysis, and remediation planning.

  • Support the accurate identification, logging, and management of risks, controls, issues, and incidents within the Risk Management System (RMS), ensuring adherence to quality standards.

  • Lead efforts to build departmental capability through the risk transformation program, including supporting privacy-related topics as required.

  • Contribute to a community of practice, sharing insights and best practices to enhance consistency and deepen understanding of risk management across the RBA.

  • Collaborate with Line 2, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams to deliver integrated assurance to the Governance Board and Audit & Risk Committee.

  • Support the preparation of reporting and analytics to increase awareness and transparency of material risk exposures. Coordinate and lead regular risk forums where insights are shared with the leadership team.

About You
  • 5+ years' experience in a Line 1 or Line 2 operational risk and compliance role, ideally including People & Culture risk experience.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the learning and development of stakeholders in practical risk management.

  • Proven ability to support organisations in strengthening risk culture and risk management practices.

  • Experience implementing risk and compliance frameworks, including coaching and training others.

  • Understanding of enterprise-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies, and standards.

  • Experience in enhancing operational resilience and implementing operational risk management standards in a regulated environment is desirable.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage across multiple levels of the organisation.
