Job summary

Water Corporation is seeking a committed Dams Operator to support day and night operations across surface water sites, catchments and treatment facilities in Western Australia. This hands-on role focuses on operating water production processes, safety, and responsive maintenance across multiple regional sites.

You will work from the Kelmscott Depot in the Dams North Team, with a roster that includes after-hours coverage and a focus on delivering reliable water services to the state.

Qualifications

  • WA C Class or HR driver licences required or desirable.
  • Safety training for dam operations is preferred.
  • Experience with chlorine handling and fall-prevention measures is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor and maintain water treatment processes to ensure quality and quantity.
  • Inspect dam structures and outlet works; perform routine maintenance and site checks.
  • Coordinate daily optimisation of treatment processes and monitor performance stats.
  • Provide after-hours roster coverage and incident management for 24x7 operations.
  • Maintain public recreation assets and liaise with staff and contractors as needed.

To support this major maintenance uplift, we are building a dedicated crew with a strong safety focus, sound judgement and the ability to work across multiple regional sites.

We are seeking a committed and proactive Dams Operator to provide both daytime and after-hours operational support across our surface water sites, catchment areas, and treatment facilities.

The successful candidate will possess proven civil operations experience, ideally within dam, water, infrastructure, or heavy civil environments, and have the ability to safely manage and maintain critical civil assets.

In This Hands-on Role, You Will
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain water and chemical treatment processes.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on dam structures and outlet works.
  • Perform site surveillance to ensure adherence to business and compliance standards.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at our Kelmscott Depot In the Dams North Team.

What’s involved?

Operation of water production and treatment processes to achieve required water quality and quantity.

Coordinate day-to-day optimisation of the treatment process including monitoring daily performance statistics, fault-finding, and rectification.

Conduct process related activities including basic maintenance, sampling chemical use and site logistics activities.

Monitor scheme performance and liaise with staff and contractors to optimise production, maintenance, and commissioning activities.

Participation in the team roster to provide afterhours support to surface water schemes to support ‘24x7’ operations and provide immediate incident management presence and control of incident sites.

Inspect and maintain dam structures and outlet works in accordance with planned inspection and maintenance schedules.

Operate dam outlet structures, gates, valves, and screens, inspect, and maintain Public Recreation facilities and conduct routine after hour’s patrols and emergency contingencies.

Monitor and sample streams and reservoirs, perform surveillance of surface and ground water catchment areas and monitor land users and public recreation activities to ensure water quality protection.

All work is undertaken with safety as the priority in the provision of a work environment where no injury is considered acceptable, and all activities are undertaken without compromising health and safety.
