Job summary

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) in NSW is seeking a Dams Safety Engineer to safeguard communities, infrastructure and the environment by managing declared dams across NSW. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) role with hybrid arrangements and salary relative to experience.

You will assess dam safety risks, provide expert advice to support regulatory decisions, review safety assessments, emergency plans and risk reports, and engage with dam owners,

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering with experience in construction, operations/maintenance of civil assets.
• Current NSW driver licence.
• Member (MIEAust) of Engineers Australia and meet Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for Chartered status.
• Able and willing to travel across NSW.

Responsibilities

• Assess dam safety risks and provide expert advice to support regulatory and policy decisions.
• Review safety assessments, emergency plans and risk reports.
• Support audits and regulatory initiatives.
• Contribute to emerging dam safety projects and engage with industry stakeholders to drive improvement in dam safety regulation and practice.
