Job summary

As One Labour Pty Ltd in Victoria is seeking a skilled machinist for a casual role with ongoing full-time hours. The job requires setup on an internal cylindrical grinder, tight tolerances, and the ability to read drawings, with a focus on precision and quality.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in internal cylindrical grinding.
• Proven experience in manual machining of heavy industrial components.
• Skilled in operating milling machines and centre lathes to tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Strong understanding of tool selection, machine setup and machining processes.
• Highly accurate with a strong focus on quality, precision and attention to detail.
• Experienced in measuring, inspecting and verifying components against drawings.
• Proficient in using and calibrating precision measuring equipment.
• Previous experience in a heavy industrial environment is essential.
• Strong commitment to OHS and safe work practices, especially in high-risk environments.
• Reliable, hardworking and capable of maintaining a positive attitude.
• Works well as part of a team and follows instructions and established processes.

Responsibilities

• Setup a job on an internal cylindrical grinder and clock up a job within 0.01mm in a 4 jaw chuck.
• Hit a 0.006mm tolerance using gauges with tight tolerances.
• Operate wheels weighing ~80kg, with a total outer diameter of 525mm and 140mm part length.
• Follow instructions and established processes to ensure precision and quality.

About You

Proven experience in internal cylindrical grinding

Proven experience in manual machining of heavy industrial components

Skilled in operating milling machines and centre lathes to tight tolerances

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications

Strong understanding of tool selection, machine setup and machining processes

Highly accurate with a strong focus on quality, precision and attention to detail

The main job we need someone for has the below requirements:

Able to setup a job on an internal cylindrical grinder and clock up a job within 0.01mm in a 4 jaw chuck

Be able to hit a 0.006mm tolerance, we use a gauge which has a gauge tolerance of Ø98.998 - Ø98.992

Wheels are approximately 80kg each, total outer diameter is 525mm and 140mm part length
