Job summary

Randstad Defence is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen cybersecurity infrastructure and deliver robust ICT systems for critical defence initiatives. The role is based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements and comprehensive benefits.

The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience, Australian defence project exposure, and proficiency with Windows, Linux, Android, VMs, scripting (Python), and security architectures.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualifications in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering, ICT Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional background as a Cybersecurity Engineer.
• Proven experience contributing to Australian defence and government projects.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering and systems engineering methodologies.
• Proficiency with Windows, Linux, and Android operating systems, virtual machines, network security, and scripting languages like Python for automation.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, networking credentials, or equivalent certifications.
• Background in DevSecOps, penetration testing, and software testing is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and building secure hardware and software architectures tailored to defence specifications.
• Support the drafting of ICT security policies and procedures aligned with corporate and defence regulatory standards.
• Help prepare accreditation plans, standard operating procedures, and key documentation to secure Authority to Operate (ATO) for company-managed systems.
• Identify vulnerabilities and security threats across systems, applying necessary security patches.
• Perform or support penetration testing and comprehensive evaluation activities to validate ICT systems.
• Log risks discovered during security assessments and collaborate with cross-functional ICT team members on mitigation strategies.
