Job summary

Randstad Defence in Sydney partners with a prominent global defence organisation to seek a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer. The successful candidate will design secure architectures, support accreditation plans, identify vulnerabilities, perform testing, and document security controls.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualifications in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering, ICT Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional background as a Cybersecurity Engineer.
• Experience on Australian defence/government projects and strong security knowledge.
• Proficiency with Windows, Linux, Android OS, scripting (Python) and security testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and building secure hardware and software architectures for defence specs.
• Draft ICT security policies and procedures aligned with defence standards.
• Prepare accreditation plans and documentation for Authority to Operate (ATO).
• Identify vulnerabilities, apply patches, perform penetration testing and evaluations.
• Log risks and work with ICT teams on mitigation strategies.

Job Description

In partnership with a prominent global defence organisation, Randstad Defence is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer. The successful candidate will focus on strengthening cybersecurity infrastructure and delivering robust Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and solutions for critical defence initiatives . This is a permanent full-time role based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements and great employee benefits.

About the Role

Assist in designing and building secure hardware and software architectures tailored to defence specifications. Support the drafting of ICT security policies and procedures aligned with corporate and defence regulatory standards.

Help prepare accreditation plans, standard operating procedures, and key documentation to secure Authority to Operate (ATO) for company-managed systems. Identify vulnerabilities and security threats across systems, applying necessary security patches. Perform or support penetration testing and comprehensive evaluation activities to validate ICT systems.

Log risks discovered during security assessments and collaborate with cross-functional ICT team members on mitigation strategies.

About you

Degree or relevant qualifications in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering, ICT Engineering, or a related field.

At least 5 years of professional background as a Cybersecurity Engineer. Proven experience contributing to Australian defence and government projects. Strong knowledge of software engineering and systems engineering methodologies.

Proficiency with Windows, Linux, and Android operating systems, virtual machines, network security, and scripting languages like Python for automation. Industry certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, networking credentials, or equivalent certifications. Background in DevSecOps, penetration testing, and software testing is highly desirable.

The candidates must be an Australian citizen and must have a Baseline Security Clearance and above.
