Job summary

Accenture is seeking a Senior Microsoft Wintel Systems Engineer in Sydney to join CyberCX—part of Accenture—focused on delivering managed security services. You will manage Windows Server ecosystems, Azure AD, Intune, MECM/WSUS, and Defender deployments while driving automation with PowerShell and maintaining security postures across hybrid environments.

The role emphasizes ITIL-aligned processes, collaboration with clients and internal teams, and ongoing skill development in cloud and security

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with broad technical knowledge.
  • Experience in IT services or large corporate enterprise environments.
  • Experience as a Microsoft Wintel Systems Engineer.
  • Experience managing Windows Server services (AD, GPO, Exchange, M365, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with Azure Entra ID/Azure AD, CA, PIM and SSO/SAML.
  • Experience supporting Azure environments and virtual networking concepts.
  • Experience deploying Microsoft systems in virtualised environments.
  • Experience patching via MECM/WSUS and endpoint security via Defender/Intune.
  • Experience with Hyper-Converged systems and NetApp HCI.
  • Experience with VMware and NetApp storage, and Veeam backups.
  • PowerShell automation and runbooks.
  • Exposure to Azure security assessments and PKI concepts.
  • IT certifications and vendor certifications preferred; ITIL Foundation preferred.

What you’ll be doing
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents and service requests for Microsoft systems, Azure environments, compute infrastructure and many other related technologies.

  • Maintain system health and performance through proactive maintenance and patching activities across infrastructure and cloud environments.

  • Perform configuration and administration of infrastructure, systems and Microsoft cloud services.

  • Support and maintain Microsoft Azure services, including core networking, identity and security controls.

  • Contribute to processes and review their application to ensure that controls, policies, and procedures are operating effectively.

  • Follow and enforce ITIL aligned incident, request fulfilment, problem and change management processes for changes required on customer environments.

  • Support security uplift, assessment and remediation activities across Microsoft infrastructure and cloud platforms.

  • Build effective working relationships both internally and externally.

Skills & Experience
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, able to leverage operating systems, compute, storage, virtualisation, backup, application and cloud knowledge, along with a broad array of tools, to solve complex problems.

  • Experience working within an IT Services Provider or mid-to-large corporate enterprise environments.

  • Experience as a Microsoft Wintel Systems Engineer.

  • Experience in managing and upgrading Windows Server Services, e.g. Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, Microsoft 365, DNS, DHCP, File/Print, etc.

  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD administration, including Conditional Access Policies, Privileged Identity Management and SSO/SAML integrations.

  • Experience supporting Azure environments, including virtual networking concepts such as hub-and-spoke, route tables and related connectivity components.

  • Experience in building and deploying Microsoft systems in a virtualised environment.

  • Experience in managing and maintaining Microsoft Server operating systems, operating system patching, application patching via MECM and WSUS.

  • Experience in managing and maintaining endpoint security and Microsoft Defender technologies, including deployment and onboarding through Intune, Group Policy, MECM and/or Autopilot.

  • Experience in managing and upgrading Hyper-Converged systems, e.g. Cisco UCS/HyperFlex and NetApp HCI.

  • Experience in managing and maintaining NetApp data storage systems.

  • Experience in managing and upgrading VMware virtualisation systems.

  • Experience in managing and upgrading enterprise backup systems, e.g. Veeam.

  • Experience with developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts, including automation and administrative runbooks.

  • Exposure to Azure security assessments and remediation activities across Microsoft cloud environments.

  • Understanding of certificate lifecycle management, including certificate renewal processes and PKI concepts.

  • Relevant IT certifications and a demonstration of continuous investment in your own technical development are important.

  • ITIL Foundation qualifications and suitable vendor certifications preferred.

Experience implementing, supporting and maintaining:

  • Linux administration

  • Automation platforms such as Puppet, Ansible and/or Terraform

  • Application allowlisting platforms such as Airlock, and/or AppLocker
