Job summary

NSW Department of Customer Service in Bathurst is seeking Cyber Security Officers to join the Cyber Technical Centre. The role focuses on vulnerability scanning, reporting, and risk assessment to support government systems.

Based in Bathurst, attendance in the office at least three days per week is required. Flexible working arrangements may be available under the DCS policy, with hybrid working conditions and 50% office presence.

Qualifications

• Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and producing high-quality technical reports.
• Understanding cyber security vulnerabilities, risks and remediation approaches.
• Experience managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes within timeframes.
• Ability to analyse large volumes of technical information and produce clear, concise reports.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with cyber threats and technologies.
• Basic knowledge of Information Security principles.
• Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain Baseline National Security Clearance and police check.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and targeted vulnerability and security scans across NSW Government infrastructure.
• Analyse scan results and provide timely, actionable reports to stakeholders.
• Assess vulnerabilities, CVEs and cyber threats to determine potential exposure across government systems.
• Interpret and analyse technical data to produce reports, visualisations and recommendations.
• Collect, document and maintain information relating to systems, assets and architectures.
• Provide administrative and operational support to meet team objectives.
• Maintain accurate records and databases in accordance with policies.
• Participate in penetration testing activities and support senior testers.
• Ensure the security and integrity of tools, systems and information used by the team.
• Stay current with evolving cyber security threats and industry developments.
