Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer for a Defence Tech program in Sydney. The role is based in Lane Cove in a high-security, onsite lab with a base salary up to $150k plus super and NV2 upgrade sponsorship.

You will lead security accreditation, craft robust security frameworks, and drive ATO sign-offs across complex ICT projects. Expect collaboration with cross-functional teams and occasional travel to ACT/VIC.

Qualifications

• Active NV1 clearance with eligibility and ambition for NV2.
• Deep hands-on experience with DSPF, ISM, and Defence ATO processes.
• Strong baseline across Windows and Linux, virtualization, networks, MDM, and scripting (Python/Batch).
• Proven ability to author clear, compliant security documentation and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Architect Security Management Plans and secure Authority to Operate (ATO) approvals for Defence platforms.
• Develop SOPs and enforce ISM, DSPF, and Essential 8 controls across integrated environments.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat analysis, and hands-on controls verification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and attend cleared workshops (occasional travel to ACT/VIC).

The Mission Protect and empower Australia’s critical Defence programs. Based out of our high-tech, secure lab in Lane Cove, you will lead security accreditation, craft robust security frameworks, and drive ATO sign-offs across complex multi-domain ICT projects.

What You’ll Do

• Drive Accreditation: Architect Security Management Plans and secure Authority to Operate (ATO) approvals for Defence platforms.
• Author & Implement: Develop SOPs and enforce ISM, DSPF, and Essential 8 controls across integrated software/hardware environments.
• Assess & Harden: Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat analysis, and hands-on controls verification.
• Collaborate: Partner with cross-functional engineering teams and represent the business in cleared workshops (occasional travel to ACT/VIC).
