Job summary

Alstom in Perth, WA is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to design, configure and integrate security for rail systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver robust cyber security controls for complex OT environments and ensure architectural integrity across projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and hands-on deployment of security solutions in a dynamic, large-scale mobility project.

Qualifications

  • Senior-level cyber security design/architecture experience in rail or OT environments.
  • Experience implementing controls aligned with industry standards and frameworks.
  • Excellent documentation skills across design and operations materials.
  • IT/OT environment experience with routing, firewalls, UNIX, AD, patch mgmt, and analytics.

Take on a new challenge and apply your Cyber Security expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll collaborate with a forward-thinking, high-performing team, contributing to the safety and resilience of rail systems by designing, configuring, and integrating robust Cyber Security solutions. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across the business and with our customer, navigating complex environments and delivering effective, practical security controls. As a dynamic and self-sufficient professional, you’ll play a pivotal role in system integration, architecture design, and cyber security engineering. You will be based in our Perth CBD office and be part of an exciting and innovative project that is transforming the Perth rail network.

You’ll work with sharp, committed teams across Alstom — solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility.

We’ll look to you for
  • Delivering cyber security design, architecture, configuration, and integration activities for rail systems.
  • Implementing controls based on standards, security frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • Deploying hardware and software solutions to meet Cyber Security requirements.
  • To write, review, and maintain high-quality documentation across design, architecture, and operational materials, including implementation guides and standard operating procedures.
What You Bring
  • Several years’ senior level experience in cyber security design, architecture, configuration, and integration for rail systems or other operational technology environments.
  • Experienced in implementing security controls aligned with industry standards and frameworks, and skilled in deploying hardware and software solutions to meet cyber security requirements.
  • Strong ability to write, review, and maintain high-quality documentation across design, architecture, and operational materials.
  • Collaborative, resilient, and effective in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Cybersecurity / Engineering / Computer Science / Technology-related.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience in an IT/OT environment with design, configuration, implementation, and testing of systems involving; Routing and Switching, Firewalls, Unix‑like systems, Active Directory, Patch Management Solutions, Centralised log, management, analytics solutions and more.
