Job summary

CommTel is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to design and implement cybersecurity solutions across mission‑critical networks and industrial systems. You will conduct risk assessments, define technical controls, and support ISO 27001 and other standards across customer infrastructure.

This role combines hands‑on security design with risk management, project delivery, and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in a technical discipline.
• Five+ years in cybersecurity design and five+ years in infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of mission‑critical networks, ICS/OT security, SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, RTUs and industrial protocols.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect | Security Officer to design and implement cybersecurity solutions, manage security risks and support compliance across customer communications infrastructure and industrial systems. This role combines hands‑on security architecture with risk management, project delivery and industry accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cybersecurity solutions for mission‑critical networks and infrastructure.
• Conduct security risk assessments, vulnerability assessments and audits, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Develop security policies, procedures and technical controls.
• Support threat monitoring, detection, incident response and recovery.
• Assess security maturity and support compliance with ISO 27001, Essential Eight, Cyber Essentials and DISP requirements.
• Apply security principles across industrial control systems (ICS), operational technology (OT) and communications networks.
• Work with customers, internal teams and external partners to strengthen security controls.
• Lead cybersecurity projects and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.

About you You will bring:

• A degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or a related discipline.
• At least five years' experience in cybersecurity design and five years' experience in communications or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of mission‑critical networks, industrial control systems (ICS/OT) security, SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, RTUs and industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC and DNP3.
• Experience with identity and access management, cloud security, firewalls, intrusion detection, endpoint protection, encryption and SIEM platforms.
• Experience with ISO 27001 risk and gap assessments and Essential Eight maturity assessments.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and project delivery skills.
• A commitment to workplace safety and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.

Desirable: CISSP, CISA, CISM or ISO 27001 Auditor certification, plus experience with Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus or DISP accreditation.
