Job summary

Operational Systems Pty Ltd (OPSYS) in Adelaide is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to join its Security Operations Centre. You will perform first-line alert review, triage security events, and assist with investigations alongside senior analysts.

Qualifications

  • Sound understanding of core cyber security principles, threat landscapes, network security, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
  • Hands-on exposure to SIEM platforms, log analysis tools, and Microsoft 365 Security environments.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and attention to detail when reviewing logs and anomalies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for incident documentation and handovers.
  • Team player able to collaborate within a SOC and meet customer SLAs.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Cyber Security Analyst to join our Adelaide-based Security

Operations Centre (SOC). In this critical operational role, you will be responsible for first-line alert review and triage within the SOC, assessing incoming security events for validity, severity, and potential customer impact.

Working with Senior Analysts and Cyber Security Lead, you will perform initial investigations, gather log data and context, and ensure complex incidents are escalated efficiently. This role plays a key part in maintaining high service quality, supporting ongoing detection tuning, and protecting our customes' digital environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Alert Triage & Initial Investigation: Perform first-line triage of security alerts within the SIEM platform. Conduct initial log analysis, enrich alerts, identify false positives, and document rationale for alert closure.
  • Escalation & Handover: Escalate confirmed or complex incidents to Senior Analysts with clear, complete, and well-structured context and documentation in line with SLAs and SOC procedures.
  • Log Review & Correlation: Review and correlate logs across multiple sources to assist in establishing incident context and verification across diverse customer environments.
  • Microsoft 365 Alert Handling: Perform initial review and triage of M365 security alerts (email-borne threats, suspicious authentication, account alerts).
  • Documentation & Process Adherence: Maintain accurate records of triage and investigation activity in ticketing systems while strictly following SOC playbooks and customer-specific procedures.
  • Continuous Growth: Participate in structured learning and development activities, shadowing Senior Analysts on complex investigations to expand your technical depth.
Requirements
