Job summary

Expo Centric is seeking an experienced Lead Fabricator to lead hands-on production of custom exhibition stands, displays, and cabinetry in a fast-paced workshop. The role suits someone with background in exhibition set-building, shopfitting, or carpentry who enjoys practical leadership.

You will translate drawings into finished products, supervise CNC operators and shop staff, manage stock, ensure safety, and support on-site work.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fabrication, custom exhibition builds, set-building, cabinetry, carpentry, shopfitting, joinery, or similar.
• Trade background is essential.
• Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and the build process.
• Experience using a range of tools and factory machinery.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisation, and time management skills.
• Own tools.
• Forklift ticket is desirable but not essential.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead workshop fabrication and assembly of stands, displays, event structures, and cabinetry components.
• Interpret production drawings into finished products.
• Fabricate with materials such as MDF, laminate board, ply, and other production materials.
• Coordinate with the CNC Operator on work orders and production requirements.
• Supervise workshop staff, including CNC Operators and Assistants, by allocating daily tasks and monitoring output.
• Maintain quality standards through in‑process checks and final inspections before handover.
• Manage stock levels, material handling, storage, and re‑ordering requirements.
• Ensure safe operation of factory machinery and maintain machinery maintenance schedules.
• Operate a forklift and assist with loading, unloading, pick‑ups, deliveries, and warehouse duties where required.
• Support on‑site work as needed and contribute to better, more efficient production processes.
• Follow WHS requirements, company SWMS, PPE standards, and site safety procedures.

What You Bring
