Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria is seeking an Aboriginal Case Manager in Morwell, VIC. The role focuses on managing court-ordered clients, performing risk assessments, and developing culturally sensitive case plans to reduce reoffending and improve outcomes.

You will work with Aboriginal justice networks, provide interventions, and may advise the Koori Court during sentencing. The role emphasizes community safety and culturally appropriate practices within CCS.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate sensitively with the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
• Ability to engage with local support services and the Koori Court in case management.
• Understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community and the issues impacting it.
• Understanding of or experience in effective case management practices including proactively managing risk of complex individuals.
• Understanding of or experience in modelling pro-social behaviours, with the ability to motivate and influence individuals who are being case managed.
• Assertiveness and confidence in dealing with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Manage both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients on court orders by conducting risk assessments and preparing case plans.
• Provide interventions and address the underlying causes of offending.
• Offer culturally sensitive support to clients to assist in completing court orders and balancing community safety risks.
• Where needed, provide advice to the Koori Court to assist in sentencing.
• Develop and implement cultural support plans and work with Aboriginal justice networks to strengthen outcomes.
