Job summary

NAISDA Dance College in New South Wales seeks a Cultural Practice Lead to establish the cultural framework of the NAISDA curriculum and oversee learning, progression, and achievement for Developing and Practicing Artists. You will lead a small team, provide cultural guidance to students, and develop course content.

The role involves working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organising cultural residencies, and managing cultural props and costumes.

About NAISDA

The Cultural Practice Lead

will establish the cultural framework for the NAISDA curriculum to enhance the cultural practices of NAISDA, and is responsible for the management of learning, progression and achievement for our Developing and Practicing Artist.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading a small team
• Providing cultural leadership and guidance to students
• Developing and delivering the relevant NAISDA courses
• Working with communities to develop remote and college-based cultural residencies
• Organising and delivering operations and training at cultural residencies
• Managing the production, purchase and storage of all cultural props and costumes

Your success profile will include:

• Identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to apply under section 14D of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977
• Demonstrated experience and sensitivity in engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Long-standing connections with remote cultural communities and demonstrated understanding and ability to implement cultural protocols
• Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
• Eligibility to work in Australia on a permanent basis
• Current NSW Drivers licence
• Willingness to work outside of standard work hours when required
