Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a Cultural Experiences Officer to bring libraries, galleries and museums to life, delivering welcoming experiences for our community.

This permanent part-time role (17.5 hours per week) involves helping visitors discover collections, supporting programs and events, and ensuring spaces are inviting.

You’ll work across library and cultural spaces, be adaptable, collaborate with teams, and help connect people with culture, knowledge and one another.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or equivalent in Arts Administration, Library & Information Studies, Customer Service or similar.
• Proven experience delivering quality customer or visitor services.
• Proven experience delivering community services, activities, programs or events.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with diverse people.
• Ability to work collaboratively and also independently when required.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Lake Macquarie City Council is looking for a Cultural Experiences Officer to help bring our libraries, galleries and museums to life and create welcoming, engaging experiences for our community.

As a key member of our front-of-house team, you will connect people with our library and cultural services, from helping visitors discover collections and resources to supporting programs, events and contemporary cultural experiences. You’ll warmly welcome our community, respond to enquiries, maintain welcoming and well-presented spaces, and ensure visitors have a positive experience every time they walk through our doors.

This is a diverse and people-focused role where no two days are the same. You’ll use technology including library management and point-of-sale systems, assist customers to navigate our collections, services and facilities, and contribute to programs that encourage people to learn, connect, create and participate.

Working across our library, gallery and museum services, you will play an important role in connecting our community with culture, knowledge and each other. We’re looking for someone who is curious, adaptable and passionate about people, who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys creating meaningful experiences for the community.

• Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, Monday to Sunday between 8.00am and 9.00pm.
• The ability to work across varied locations and adapt to changing tasks and service requirements, including occasional travel to external sites.
• The role involves regular customer-facing duties, including the ability to work independently and, when required, in a solo capacity.
• A Working with Children Check for paid employment is required prior to commencement.

You will be comfortable juggling a range of tasks, responding to different customer needs and working collaboratively across our library and cultural facilities. Most importantly, you’ll play a key role in connecting our community with library services, cultural experiences and programs that inspire, enrich and bring people together.

You will bring:

• A Certificate III or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline such as Arts Administration, Library & Information Studies, Customer Service or another relevant field.
• Proven experience delivering quality customer or visitor services.
• Proven experience contributing to the delivery of community services, activities, programs or events.
• The ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with a diverse range of people.
• The ability to work collaboratively while also taking initiative and working independently when required.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• A current C Class Driver Licence.
