Job summary

The Mater Private Hospital Mackay CSSD is seeking an experienced Assistant in Nursing to join our Centralised Sterile Services Department on a permanent part-time basis (32 hours per week). You will support theatre and CSSD operations, ensuring safe sterilising services and patient care, with a roster that includes Monday to Saturday and on‑call shifts.

Salary range is $37.93–$39.04 per hour plus superannuation, with access to salary packaging up to $15,900 and a range of staff benefits.

About the role

The Mater Private Hospital Mackay Perioperative Department is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic and energetic Assistant in Nursing to work within our Centralised Sterile Services Department (CSSD) on a permanent part-time 32 hours per week basis. Flexibility is required as you will be required to work a range of shifts Monday to Saturday plus participate in the on‑call roster.

Salary range: $37.93 - $39.04 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

You will support the theatre and CSSD team in activities that ensure the provision of a safe and efficient sterilising service. You will also participate in hospital quality management systems in the unit to ensure a continuous improvement focus. Your enthusiasm and skills will see you seamlessly integrate into this outstanding team, assisting to provide an exceptional level of care and to hit‑the‑ground‑running.

• Decontamination & Assembly: Manual and automated cleaning, inspection, and packing of surgical trays and specialised equipment’s
• System Tracking: Accurate documentation and data entry using electronic tracking systems (T-Doc) to manage the instrument lifecycle
• Sterilisation: Operating autoclaves and monitoring sterilisation cycles in line with Best Practice
• Specialised Processing: Handling loan set processing and endoscope reprocessing (desirable)
• Quality & Safety: Engaging with Risk Management, Continuous Quality Improvement, and WHS systems
