Job summary

Blackmagic Design is seeking a C++ Engineer to join our software engineering team in Melbourne. You will design, develop, and maintain cross‑platform desktop applications across Windows, macOS, and Linux, delivering high-quality software used by creatives worldwide.

You will collaborate with product, design, and QA, participate in code reviews, and contribute to the full product lifecycle from prototyping to shipping.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional C++ experience with modern C++ (11/14/17).
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience developing cross-platform desktop applications (Windows, macOS, and/or Linux).
• Ability to read, debug, and work confidently within large existing codebases.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Get-it-shipped mindset with a focus on quality and stability.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain C++ applications across desktop platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux).
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for large codebases.
• Debug and resolve issues across UI to core application logic.
• Collaborate with product, design, and QA teams to deliver new features and improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to code quality and engineering practices.
• Work across the full product lifecycle—from design through shipping and ongoing support.
• Optimise application performance and reliability for real-time production environments.
