Job summary

Universal Cranes is seeking an experienced Crane Technician to lead maintenance for the Sunshine Coast team, supported by our Brisbane workshop. You will diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, both in the workshop and on-site, to minimise downtime.

The role requires crane-industry experience, relevant trade qualifications, and strong problem-solving skills. A team-focused, safety-minded approach is essential for day-to-day success in a dynamic, growing business.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in crane industry.
• Relevant tickets / licence such as White Card.
• Relevant trade qualifications (Diesel Fitter / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• A positive, team-oriented approach.
• High Risk Work Licence – Open Crane preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of cranes.
• Diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical faults – in the workshop and onsite.
• Minimise downtime through efficient troubleshooting, especially of electronic systems and onboard diagnostics.
• Maintain Electrical Systems.
• Mechanical repairs and servicing.
• Promote health and safety at all times.

We have a fleet of 200 cranes ranging from 2.5T to 1200T, including minicranes, Frannas, all-terrains and crawler cranes. Universal Cranes began as a family crane hire business in 1993 and have grown to become a national crane hire company. We pride ourselves on maintaining a family business service culture while providing our clients with a national high-capacity fleet.

We are seeking an experienced Crane Technician to work as the primary technician for our Sunshine Coast team supported by our workshop and technician team in Brisbane.

About the role

As the Crane Technician

Qualifications and experience

Required:

Preferred:

High Risk Work License – Open Crane

Current Driver’s License – Heavy Rigid or above

Experience in Crane Computer Systems

Crane Manufacture Training

Auto Electrical Qualification

The successful candidates will also be subject to the following additional requirements as part of the role:

The ability to pass pre-employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol Testing

Police Check and other Visa requirements
