Job summary

The Department of Justice is seeking a Court Operations Officer to provide security services to the Supreme Court and support court operations in a Tasmanian jurisdiction. The role involves screening attendees, enforcing court protocols, and assisting with judicial administration under relevant legislation.

Flexibility exists in hours and arrangements; a valid Driver’s Licence or eligibility for JP status is desirable, with comprehensive pre-employment checks and identification verification

Qualifications

• Desirable requirements include a Driver’s Licence.
• Desirable: Appointed Justice of the Peace or willingness to qualify for appointment.
• Pre-employment checks include National Police Record and related screenings.
• Identification check is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide security services to the Supreme Court under the Court Security Act 2017 and other legislation (screening, searches, removal of individuals).
• Ensure safety of Judges, Jurors and court users and monitor behaviour for compliance with protocols.
• Support the Sheriff’s office with writs, rules, orders and warrants, and assist with Juror administration.
• Provide administrative support to the Supreme Court Registries and act as Judge’s Attendant as required.
