Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice in Lismore is seeking a Senior Sergeant to supervise a small team, allocate resources for efficient court operations, and deliver high-quality services to court users and jurors.

The role requires leadership, adaptability, and strong people management, with a focus on compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Salary is competitive with superannuation and leave loading.

Qualifications

• Essential requirements include completing Sheriff’s Officer Recruit Training Program.
• Certificate III in Government to be completed within 12 months.
• Willingness to obtain a Certificate IV of Leadership and Management on commencement.
• Successful completion of tactical re-certification and other required training.
• Current NSW driver’s licence with provisional P2 minimum.
• Current First Aid certificate.
• Meet health, physical and psychological requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and support team members to aid development.
• Allocate resources for efficient court operations and safety.
• Undertake law enforcement duties per laws and policies.
• Maintain records and rosters per guidelines.
• Provide high-quality services to court users including jurors.
• Build relationships with court stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Regional Commander and other OICs for regional coverage.
• Contribute to initiatives improving work practices.
