Job summary

Dorevitch Pathology is seeking a casual Pathology Courier in Traralgon, VIC. You will pick up and deliver pathology samples, specimens and related items across medical centres and laboratories, handling up to 30 stops per day with strict confidentiality.

The role requires a valid open Australian driver’s license, the ability to work varied shifts, and strong communication with healthcare staff. Training and safety procedures are provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid open Australian driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Excellent time management with the ability to juggle 30+ stops per day.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for liaising with practitioners and staff.

Responsibilities

• Pick-up and deliver pathology samples, specimens, vaccines, and related items to and from referring sites.
• Liaise between referring practitioners and internal Medical Liaison Officer regarding orders.
• Prepare and deliver reports and manage stock in the main laboratory.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all safety and QA procedures.

About The Role

As Pathology Courier, you will be responsible for the picking-up and transportation of Pathology Samples, Specimens, Blood/Blood Products X-rays and Vaccines, this could be across Medical Centres, Collection Centres, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, and Veterinarian Surgeries for delivery to Laboratories in various locations.

You will be ensuring a safe and efficient process as you manage 30+ stops per day, playing a crucial part in providing quality health services to the people in our communities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Pick-up and delivery of Pathology Samples, Specimens, Blood/Blood Products X-rays, Vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers
• Liaising between Referring Medical Practitioners and the Medical Liaison Officer with regards to store orders
• Preparation and delivery of reports and stock control in main laboratory
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and integrity
• Following operating procedure to complete correct specimen coding documentation
• Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Work Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance processes

About You

• Valid open Australian driver’s license with an excellent driving record
• Ability to work various shifts including rostered weekends and public holidays
• Ability to provide evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B
• Great interpersonal skills you will use to liaise with different stakeholders as well as strong written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills, juggling up to 30 stops per day
• Physical capability to be able to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10kg -15kg
• The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions
• Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous
