West Recruitment is recruiting for a Country Operations Manager for an Australian importer/distributor based in Mascot. You will lead a small, high-performing team across customer service, logistics, inventory, quality and admin, with autonomy to influence day-to-day operations and long-term results.

About your new company:

Our client is a well-established importer and distributor supplying Australia's food manufacturing sector. They are seeking an experienced Country Operations Manager to lead their Australian operation, overseeing a small, high-performing team across customer service, logistics, inventory, quality and administration.

This is a broad leadership position offering plenty of autonomy, where you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day operation.

About your new role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall performance of the Australian operation, ensuring the business delivers exceptional service, maintains operational excellence and continues to grow.

This is a broad, hands-on leadership role where you'll lead a small, high-performing team while overseeing logistics, inventory, quality, customer service, administration and 3PL warehouse performance.

Based in Mascot, you'll travel to the Sydney 3PL warehouse every couple of weeks, with occasional interstate travel to other 3PL locations as required.

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Australian business.


• Manage inbound and outbound logistics, inventory control and 3PL warehouse performance.


• Drive operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Ensure outstanding customer service and manage escalated customer enquiries.


• Oversee local finance administration, including coordination of AP, AR, reconciliations and payroll activities.


• Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies and regulatory requirements.


• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, warehouse partners and customers.


• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency and profitability.

About you:

We're looking for an experienced operational leader who can lead from the front and enjoys working in a fast-paced distribution environment.

You'll bring well-rounded operations experience across multiple functions and understand how areas such as logistics, warehousing, inventory, customer service and administration work together to drive overall business performance.

• Proven leadership experience within a distribution, wholesale or supply chain environment.


• Well-rounded experience across multiple operational functions, not just one specialist area.


• Strong knowledge of logistics, warehousing, inventory management and customer service.


• Experience managing teams and building strong relationships with 3PL providers and external partners.


• Experience within the food, FMCG or food ingredient industry will be highly regarded.


• Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, hands-on leadership style.


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.


• Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office.


• Willingness to travel to the Sydney 3PL warehouse regularly, with occasional interstate travel as required.
