Job summary

Queensland Cotton Corporation is seeking a Stationary Plant Operator for a permanent role at our cotton gin in Emerald, Queensland. You will operate and start up the gin, monitor performance, and troubleshoot equipment to keep downtime low, while maintaining high safety standards and accurate reporting.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in an operational environment, a valid driver’s licence, and a forklift licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in an operational environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and forklift licence; knowledge of safety legislation.
• Mechanical awareness and safety mindset with good literacy and communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform Gin start up checks and run the cotton gin to optimal levels.
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns of ginning equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
• Monitor downtime statistics and troubleshoot production issues.
• Regularly clean lint cleaner bars and flues.
• Adjust gin operations to manage fibre characteristics, moisture, and bale storage.
• Ensure safety practices, procedures, and toolbox talks are followed onsite.
• Complete reports and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Travel regionally to other sites as required.
