Job summary

CSIRO’s Cotton Breeding Group in Narrabri, NSW, invites applications for an Agricultural Research Farm Hand to support hands-on field and glasshouse research. You will help with sowing, harvesting trials, and crop management at Myall Vale and regional NSW/QLD sites, contributing to experimental design and sample processing for improved cotton varieties.

Qualifications

Current driver’s licence.
Experience operating row crop farming equipment and managing irrigation systems.
Ability to lift, bend, walk and perform repetitive motions safely.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team under direction from Scientific Researchers.
Willingness to travel to remote sites at short notice and work in harsh conditions.

Responsibilities

Operate planting, cultivation, fertilising, spraying and harvesting machinery.
Irrigate crops as directed and as required.
Assist with other operations within the cotton breeding program and trial preparation.
Be an active member of a large team supporting an extensive cotton breeding program.
Provide instruction and assist others to complete tasks and activities.
Collaborate with colleagues to reach program objectives across CSIRO sites.
