Job summary

Village Roadshow Theme Parks is seeking a qualified costume technician to join our backstage team across Movie World, Sea World and Paradise Country on a part-time basis. You’ll handle full garment assembly, mending, prop making and precision cutting to bring characters to life behind the scenes.

Based at Movie World (Oxenford) on the Gold Coast, the role offers $33.28 per hour and opportunities to work across multiple parks, with fittings, costume preparation and wardrobe delivery duties.

Qualifications

• Industry experience equivalent to Cert 2/3 in sewing or comparable training.
• Knowledge of garment assembly, pattern drafting and grading.
• Full garment assembly knowledge and ability to work across multiple sewing machines.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and mend costumes to a proficient level.
• Use trade/industry skills for pattern making and garment manufacture.
• Conduct fittings and measurement taking at parks.
• Assist in costume preparation for promotions, events, filming and tours.
• Sort costumes into wardrobe racks and storage rails.
• Deliver costumes to required venues and assist with dressing for shows.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

This role will have you hemming with excitement and tailoring the magic behind the scenes! You’ll be:

• Manufacturing and mending costumes at a proficient level.
• Using trade/Industry skills to use multiple machines, perform advanced pattern making, exclusive garment cutting and manufacture, character creation and maintenance.
• Conducting fittings and measurement taking at all parks.
• Assisting in the preparation of costumes required for promotions, events, filming and tours.
• Sorting costumes into wardrobe racking and storage rails.
• Delivering appropriate costumes to required venues.
• Assisting with dressing for park shows, auditions and events.

What We’re Looking For

If you’ve got the stitch-savvy grading game, then this role is tailor made to suit you! You’ll bring:

• Industry experience equivalent to a minimum level of Cert 2 or 3 Level of sewing skills
• Accredited training/Industry experience garment assembly and pattern drafting
• Full garment assembly knowledge
• Grading experience essential
• Driver’s License is essential
• Skilled communicator with great interpersonal skills
• Well organised with a strong attention to detail
• Relevant health and safety knowledge desired
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
