Job summary

Launch Recruitment Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our client’s team in Brisbane. The role focuses on supporting project cost management, forecasting, reporting and financial controls across a portfolio of projects.

You will work closely with Project Managers and Finance, manage accruals, monthly cost variances, AFEs, POs, and maintain cost books and registers to ensure data accuracy and timely funding.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cost Controller or similar role.
• Experience with project cost control, forecasting and reporting.
• Ability to work with Project Managers and Finance teams.
• Strong understanding of accruals and variance analysis.
• Experience with POs, AFEs and WBS processes.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly accrual processes within Finance deadlines.
• Complete month-end forecasting and reporting within required deadlines.
• Prepare and update financial variance reports and MPR reporting.
• Conduct regular meetings with Project Managers to obtain latest accruals, trends and forecasts.
• Analyse monthly cost variances and provide explanations for movements.
• Maintain monthly Cost Books and save in SharePoint.
• Create and facilitate PRs and POs for responsible projects.
• Support Project Managers with AFEs for timely funding release.
• Assist with ACP, CSRA and PER processes as required.
• Manage PO and project closures to support good financial housekeeping and project capitalisation.
• Maintain and update AFE and WBS registers as new AFEs progress.
• Ensure a high level of data accuracy across all financial and project reporting.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our client’s team. This role will be responsible for supporting project cost management, forecasting, reporting and financial controls across a portfolio of projects.

Role Responsibilties:

• Complete monthly accrual processes within Finance deadlines


• Complete month-end forecasting and reporting within required deadlines


• Prepare and update financial variance reports and MPR reporting


• Conduct regular meetings with Project Managers to obtain the latest information on accruals, trends and forecasts


• Analyse monthly cost variances and provide clear explanations for movements and trends


• Maintain monthly Cost Books and ensure they are completed and saved in SharePoint


• Create and facilitate PRs and POs for responsible projects and areas


• Support Project Managers with the preparation and submission of AFEs to ensure timely funding release


• Assist with ACP, CSRA and PER processes as required


• Manage PO and project closures to support good financial housekeeping and project capitalisation


• Maintain and update AFE and WBS registers as new AFEs progress


• Ensure a high level of data accuracy across all financial and project reporting

About You:

• Previous experience in a Cost Controller, Project Cost Controller, Project Accountant or similar role


• Strong experience with project cost control, forecasting and financial reporting


• Experience working closely with Project Managers and Finance teams


• Strong understanding of accruals, forecasting and variance analysis


• Experience with purchase orders, project closures and financial controls


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy


• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills


• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines


• Proficient with Excel and financial/project reporting systems


• Experience working with AFE and WBS processes would be highly regarded


• Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with project and finance stakeholders
