Job description

We’re looking for a commercially minded Cost Accountant to join our team in Gosford. This role plays an important part in supporting financial performance, profitability and cost management across the business. You’ll work closely with Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Livestock and Executive Leadership to turn financial and operational data into practical insights and recommendations.

From analysing cost drivers and profitability to supporting budgets, forecasts and investment decisions, you’ll have the opportunity to influence performance across Hewitt’s value chain. This is a full-time, office-based role suited to someone who enjoys getting close to the numbers and the operations behind them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse financial performance, profitability and key cost drivers across business units, products, customers and operational activities.
  • Monitor livestock, manufacturing, processing, logistics and operational costs, identifying opportunities to improve margins and efficiency.
  • Develop financial models and support budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis and management reporting.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes, helping maintain accurate and reliable financial reporting and systems.
  • Prepare business cases and investment appraisals, including ROI, NPV, IRR, payback and sensitivity analysis, to support strategic and capital decisions.
About You

You’re an analytical and commercially focused finance professional who can see the story behind the numbers. You bring strong financial modelling and problem-solving capability, combined with the communication skills to turn complex information into clear, practical recommendations.

Experience within food processing, agribusiness or FMCG will set you up well for this role, particularly if you understand operational and manufacturing performance drivers. You’ll be comfortable partnering with stakeholders and working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

You Will Bring
  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Financial Analyst or Commercial Analyst within food processing, agribusiness or FMCG; meat or protein experience is highly regarded.
  • Strong financial modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience analysing operational, livestock, manufacturing and/or retail performance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau; SQL experience is advantageous.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Analytics or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, plus an understanding of ERP systems and a continuous improvement mindset.
