  • Grow revenue by developing new business opportunities, building strategic corporate partnerships and securing grant funding.
  • Full-time opportunity based in Sydney’s Inner West, conveniently located on the train line, with a hybrid working arrangement.
Impact of the organisation

An internationally recognised medical research institute dedicated to preventing death and suffering from cardiovascular disease through world-class research and innovation, helping people affected by heart and circulatory conditions have more time with the people they love.

The organisation brings together leading scientists, clinicians and researchers to better understand, prevent, detect and treat cardiovascular disease.

The institute has contributed to significant advances in cardiovascular research, including research into the links between passive smoking and heart disease, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and innovative approaches to stroke prevention and anti-clotting treatments.

With a strong focus on collaboration across scientific and clinical disciplines, the organisation is committed to accelerating breakthroughs that improve and save lives. It also champions equity through initiatives supporting women in STEM and improving Indigenous health outcomes through research, collaboration and community engagement.

Impact you will have in this role

You’ll play a key role in growing revenue by developing strategic corporate partnerships, expanding funding opportunities and securing support from grants.

Combining business development, relationship management and strategic fundraising, you’ll identify new opportunities, build relationships with prospective corporate partners and philanthropic funders, and grow existing partnerships to maximise their value.

Working closely with scientists, researchers and internal stakeholders, you’ll translate complex research into compelling proposals and cases for support that inspire investment and build meaningful, long‑term partnerships.

This is an opportunity to bring your commercial or fundraising expertise into a purpose‑driven research environment, with the autonomy to develop new opportunities, shape partnerships and contribute to research that has the potential to improve and save lives.

We welcome candidates from corporate, healthcare and not-for-profit backgrounds who are passionate about building strategic partnerships, generating income and contributing to a meaningful research mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic partnership concepts and identify opportunities to align the organisation’s research, expertise and impact with prospective corporate partners.
  • Manage and grow existing corporate partnerships, identifying opportunities to deepen engagement, diversify support and increase partnership value.
  • Identify, pursue and develop new business and funding opportunities to grow revenue and expand the organisation’s network of supporters.
  • Identify, engage and cultivate prospective grant funders to grow the philanthropic funding portfolio.
  • Develop and submit compelling grant applications, partnership proposals, pitch documents and cases for support.
  • Oversee philanthropic grants, including progress monitoring and high‑quality acquittal reporting that demonstrates the impact of funded research.
  • Cultivate and steward major supporters, re‑engaging lapsed supporters and strengthening existing relationships.
  • Collaborate with scientists, researchers and internal teams to develop meaningful impact reporting and deliver timely updates to partners and supporters.
  • Deliver engaging presentations, partnership meetings and stewardship activities to strengthen relationships and drive ongoing engagement.
  • Contribute to the development of systems, processes and organisational capabilities that strengthen partnership development and fundraising performance.
  • Champion a culture of fundraising, partnership development and collaboration across the organisation.
Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate partnerships, sponsorship, business development, strategic account management, healthcare partnerships, philanthropy, grants, major gifts or a related field.
  • Experience identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships and generating revenue growth.
  • Proven ability to build, nurture and grow trusted relationships with corporate partners, clients, supporters or other key stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience developing compelling proposals, pitches, business cases, grant applications or other persuasive funding materials.
  • Excellent verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to engage and influence a range of audiences.
  • Highly organised, with strong time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and translate complex information into clear, engaging communications.
  • A genuine interest in the role of medical research in preventing death and suffering from cardiovascular disease, and a desire to contribute to meaningful impact.
