JM Consulting, a highly regarded Australian commercial law firm, invites an experienced Corporate & Commercial Lawyer to join in Melbourne or Sydney. The role offers direct client exposure, ownership of matters and genuine autonomy.

You will manage private M&A, joint ventures, capital raises and governance matters, guiding transactions from structuring to completion while developing strong client relationships with seasoned partners.

• Approximately 4–8 years of post-qualification experience in corporate transactions and general commercial law.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with direct client engagement.
• Excellent commercial judgement and a collaborative approach to building a practice.

The Opportunity

Opportunity for an experienced Corporate & Commercial Lawyer to join a highly regarded Australian commercial law firm in either Melbourne or Sydney.

The practice advises a diverse client base, including private businesses, listed companies, founders, investors and senior executives, on a broad range of corporate transactions and commercial matters.

The team works on sophisticated and often complex transactions, providing lawyers with the opportunity to take ownership of matters, develop strong client relationships and play an active role in the commercial and strategic aspects of each transaction.

The Role

You will work across a broad mix of corporate and commercial matters, including:

• Private M&A, business acquisitions and divestments
• Joint ventures and shareholder agreements
• Private capital investments and capital raisings
• Corporate structuring and restructures
• Corporate governance and advisory matters
• Commercial contracts and business arrangements

Depending on your level of experience, you will have the opportunity to manage transactions from initial structuring and due diligence through to drafting, negotiation and completion.

Working closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers, you will be encouraged to take responsibility for key aspects of matters, engage directly with clients and further develop your technical expertise and commercial judgement.

• You will be confident managing matters, have strong drafting and negotiation skills, and enjoy working directly with clients.
• You will have sound commercial judgement, a collaborative approach and an interest in developing your practice within a highly regarded commercial law firm.
