Job summary

Mahlab is seeking a commercially minded senior lawyer to lead a team of legal professionals in Sydney, Australia. The role focuses on complex agreements, negotiations, and governance matters across major resources, energy, infrastructure and commercial projects.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will lead a team of lawyers and legal professionals responsible for complex agreements, negotiations, governance matters and strategic legal advice. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across a broad range of high-value projects and commercial initiatives.

About You

You are a commercially minded lawyer with strong technical ability, excellent judgement, and the confidence to manage complex matters with a high degree of autonomy. Experience in commercial, projects, disputes, resources, energy, environment and planning, or related practice areas will be well regarded.

Ideally, you will have:

• Around 5+ years' post-admission experience, although outstanding candidates at other levels will be considered.
• Training from a leading law firm and/or experience in a sophisticated in-house environment.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership capability and a collaborative approach
