Mahlab is a leading Australian firm seeking a commercially minded lawyer to join one of its largest specialist teams. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will lead a team of lawyers handling complex agreements, governance matters and strategic legal advice on high-value resources, energy, infrastructure and commercial projects.

The role offers authentic leadership opportunities and exposure to major negotiations and transactions.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will lead a team of lawyers and legal professionals responsible for complex agreements, negotiations, governance matters and strategic legal advice. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across a broad range of high-value projects and commercial initiatives.

About You

You are a commercially minded lawyer with strong technical ability, excellent judgement, and the confidence to manage complex matters with a high degree of autonomy. Experience in commercial, projects, disputes, resources, energy, environment and planning, or related practice areas will be well regarded. Ideally, you will have:

• Around 5+ years' post-admission experience, although outstanding candidates at other levels will be considered.
• Training from a leading law firm and/or experience in a sophisticated in-house environment.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Leadership capability and a collaborative approach
