Job summary

Proactive Technical Recruitment – Sydney NSW is seeking a Corporate Compliance Manager to join a highly respected multinational engineering and technology organisation. You will lead the corporate compliance function, shape governance frameworks and provide practical legal guidance to senior leadership from the MD level.

You will bring 7+ years in legal/compliance, a law degree with Australian practising status, and deep knowledge of competition law, contracts and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' relevant legal and compliance experience.
• Law degree (LLB or equivalent) with current Australian practising certificate.
• Strong expertise in Australian Competition and Consumer Law, commercial contracts, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organisation's corporate compliance function, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and corporate governance standards.
• Provide strategic, commercially practical legal and compliance advice to the MD and senior leadership team.
• Oversee compliance across Competition and Consumer Law, privacy, modern slavery, export controls, anti-money laundering and other regulatory obligations.
• Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements and legal documentation, protecting the organisation's interests.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve compliance frameworks, policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Partner with General Counsel and external legal advisers on commercial, contractual and corporate legal matters.
• Manage compliance audits, investigations, statutory reporting and corrective actions.
• Deliver compliance training and promote a strong culture of ethical conduct, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across business functions to identify, assess and proactively mitigate legal and commercial risks.

Your Responsibilities:

About You:

You are a calm, measured and highly personable legal and compliance professional who combines sound legal judgement with strong commercial awareness and a genuine passion for compliance.

Collaborative, approachable and emotionally intelligent, you are equally comfortable advising senior executives on strategic matters and rolling up your sleeves to deliver practical solutions.

You Bring:

• 7+ years' relevant legal and compliance experience, ideally within FMCG, manufacturing, industrial products or a sales and distribution environment.

• A relevant Law degree (LLB or equivalent) and current Australian practising certificate.

• Strong expertise in Australian Competition and Consumer Law, commercial contracts, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

• Experience supporting a manufacturer or product-based business operating through wholesale, dealer or distribution networks will be highly regarded.

• Proven ability to develop and implement effective compliance frameworks, policies and risk management strategies.

• Excellent commercial acumen, analytical capability and contract negotiation skills.

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence and emotional intelligence to influence executive leadership.

• A composed, collaborative and hands-on approach, with high integrity, reliability and a commitment to long-term business success.

• Experience within a multinational or complex corporate environment will be advantageous.
